Stephen Ministry equips members of Grace Community Church to provide high-quality, Christ-centered, one-on-one care to people in our body and the community. In a consistent and compassionate way, leaders in this ministry will walk side by side with individuals experiencing life difficulties, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or relocation.
Barb’s Testimony
When her dad passed away in the midst of other life challenges, a Stephen Leader entered Barb’s life to provide the support she didn’t even know she needed. She was then able to turn around and show that same kind of care to others.
Matt’s Testimony
Even before Stephen Ministry came to Grace, our Mercy Team sought to walk side by side with others through life’s challenges. The mentorship, support, and care Matt was able to give to Matthew demonstrates the type of Christ-centered, one-on-one support Stephen Leaders will be equipped to provide to individuals in need.
Who is a Stephen Minister?
Stephen Ministers have various backgrounds and life experiences, but they all share a gifting and passion to bring Christ’s love to those who are hurting or struggling.
Stephen Ministers commit to meeting weekly with an individual in need of care and will journey with them as long as the need persists.
Stephen Ministers have a desire to:
Understand their own thoughts, emotions, and behaviors as well as the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors of those who are hurting.

Practice relational skills that are applicable in many areas of life.
