Beyond Local

We are committed to shining the light of the gospel by mobilizing and discipling our people to restore our local community through God’s transformational love. We have strategically developed partnerships and initiatives to address needs and build relationships with our neighbors.

“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Matthew 5:16

Motel Church

Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” -Matthew 25:40

Motel Church strives to reach the transient population, the homeless, and the working people who live at the motels. Our primary focus is to share the hope we have in Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit to bring healing and restoration to the broken hearted.

Get Involved: Motel Church Laurel meets every 2nd and 4th Saturday.

Nursing Home Outreach

We must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”-Acts 20:35

We know that the elderly in our community are commonly neglected and at high risk for feelings of loneliness, cynicism, and hopelessness. This outreach ministry regularly brings the hopeful gospel message, fellowship, encouragement, and support to the residents of the Lorien Nursing Home in Columbia.

Get Involved: Our Lorien Nursing Home Outreach team serves on the second Saturday of each month. All are welcome to join!

We pray that God will raise up young leaders passionate about caring for senior citizens so that we can multiply this important ministry.

Public School Outreach

learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless,-Isaiah 1:17

We are passionate about empowering vulnerable kids, and one of the ways we have the privilege to do this is through partnering with HCPSS Title I and alternative schools. In addition to our ESL programs (see ESL Ministry), we also provide backpacks, hygiene kits, holiday gift baskets, and more to students at our partner schools each year.

Get Involved: We are praying for small groups to commit to joining our Public School Outreach team and taking on a particular project. We need all skills, talents, and hands on deck to show the love of Christ to our local kids!

We are looking for people to take on these areas of need: Backpack Drive, school beautification, career counseling (at Homewood), teacher appreciation, and Back to School Night (at Laurel Woods).

Clothing Closet

Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.” -Luke 3:11

Our Clothing Closet Ministry collects and distributes gently used clothing to those in need, working closely with the school system, the international community, and other local partnerships. Community clothing distribution events are scheduled throughout the year, and clothing is available at Grace on an as-needed basis.

Upcoming Dates:

October 26 – Fall Clothing Giveaway

November 2 – Fall Clothing Giveaway

Get Involved: We need volunteers to gather clothes for donation, sort donations as they pile in, and serve with us at our bi-annual giveaways. Will your small group step up and help us to live out Luke 3:11 in a practical way?
