My spiritual background began during my childhood at our Alabama church that my grandfather built with his own two hands. I remember the day I asked Jesus Christ to be my Savior. I was about eight years of age sitting in the wood pews draped in green cushions in my best Sunday dress when Brother Howard was preaching that through Jesus Christ all can be saved for everlasting life with God. He prompted the congregation with a moment for anyone ready to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior; it was on that day that I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior.
As I grew up, I came to trust Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior more as I read the Word, worshipped with other believers, and followed the plan God had for my life instead of my own. As I did not always understand the journey and may have even resisted at times, I continued to follow. My life has changed since that day as a little girl as I embraced a leap of faith that took me on a 1000-mile journey to Maryland. A leap of faith that jumpstarted my career but more importantly, led me to spiritual mentors and, ultimately, to finding my purpose as a servant leader. There have been many spiritual mentors to me along the way from my first manager to my mentor to my peers. I have been blessed to discover myself through Christ and discover a home away from home.
Christ continues to bless my journey through timing. His divine timing has blessed me with greater financial stability with a job promotion in June as well as to finding a man of Christ whom I am to marry this November. I decided to get baptized because I want to take the steps outwardly to show my faith as well as to begin my marriage as a baptized believer alongside my fiancé.
