My family and I immigrated to the U.S. when I was 5 years old, just in time for me to start Kindergarten. Growing up, my parents worked hard to provide me with security and support. As the eldest child in my family, I got to experience many “firsts.” I was the first person in my family to go to college. Even though I did well academically in college and graduated with a good job, there was still an emptiness in my soul that was unexplainable. As I matured into adulthood, I kept feeling that something was missing and none of my successes could fill it up.

In my mid-20s, I went through a difficult time in my life. My dear college friend invited me to church. Since my family were non-believers, I had a cynical view of Christianity. I had been to many churches before, but this time was different. For the first time in my life, in the large auditorium during worship, I felt in my heart Jesus’ presence and his love for me. I cried in that moment and I knew who Jesus was and accepted him as my Lord and Savior. My passion for Jesus grew. I joined a small group that helped me in my spiritual walk. I met a wonderful friend who became my sister in Christ, and over the years we have helped each other through many trials.

Jesus has blessed me in so many ways through the years in all areas of my life. He has blessed me with a family that is supportive and loving. He has blessed me with two amazing daughters who remind me every day of God’s goodness and grace. He is my rock. He is my strength. He is my hope. He carries me through life’s toughest storms. He makes me whole.

I’ve accepted Christ over a decade ago and never made a public profession of faith. Today I am ready. I am choosing to be baptized to declare that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. My desire more than anything else is to fulfill the plan he has for me and live my life to glorify him.
