Last weekend we saw many believers publicly proclaim their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior through baptism. Middle school student Skylar Shaffer wanted to share a little bit of her story:
My name is Skylar, and I am in the 8th grade. When I was in the 5th grade I went through some issues at school and I knew that no one else could make things better but Jesus. That day I accepted him in my heart because I knew he died on the cross for my sins and that there is nothing I can do to get to heaven on my own.
Since then I’d like to think were best buds. Then, this past summer my sisters and I went to a Vacation Bible School at my grandparents’ church. At the VBS they encouraged and showed the importance of baptism. The people there are another reason I became more willing to be baptized and take that plunge in my faith journey. When I heard the opportunity to be baptized at Grace, I took it and I am glad I have.
Baptism at Grace
During all worship gatherings on Baptism Weekends, we celebrate the very reason we exist as a church: Christ’s mission to make disciples, baptizing and teaching in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28: 19-20). We share testimonies of how Jesus changes lives now and for eternity. And the best part… we baptize with a joy that’s out of this world!
