Kisses from the King

Written by Kathy Petersen, Senior Director of Adult Ministry

Many years ago, I did a Bible study written by Dee Brestin and Kathy Troccoli entitled Falling in Love with Jesus. In that study I was introduced to “kisses from the King” – these are moments when you sense God’s presence or are reminded of God in real way in your daily life. Kisses can come in different ways — from Scripture, from an unexpected provision, in words from a friend or in something you see in the world around you.

This morning as I looked out my kitchen window, I received a “kiss from the King” in the form of a beautiful male blue bird perched on the shepherd’s staff that we use to hold a bird feeder. The color of this small bird was so vibrant on this overcast day. It was a visible reminder of the beauty that God created just for us. And it is such a “kiss from the King” that we need to hold tight to and remember as we go through this time of uncertainty. There is still much beauty in the world around us even as we face this tragic pandemic. God is  around us  and with us through this pandemic. (Luke 12:7 – Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows). I encourage you to look for and hold tight to “kisses from the King” as you go through these days. He is waiting for you to receive the gift of his kiss and the love it conveys.
