My name is Jordan Namie, and I am 14 years old. I grew up in a Christian family that went to Church every Sunday. I also went to a small private Christian school from kindergarten all the way through this year, so as you can tell, I’ve had a lot of exposure to Jesus and the Christian message. When I was younger though, I didn’t fully understand what being Christian entailed. When I went to church I just saw it like school, a place where I had to go and where I had to learn all of these stories and verses.

At our school, we would have chapels every Thursday first period. Once every month we would have a double period chapel, which was basically prayer meetings. We would all just spend these periods worshiping, praying together, and sharing what we felt God wanted us to share. I think that it was during those chapels where I realized that being a true Christian wasn’t just knowing all the facts but also having a relationship with God.

Being around teachers who had a deeper connection with their faith helped teach me what it was like to fully rely on God. It was really through their guidance and openness about their faith that made me want to go deeper into the Word.

Through studying the Bible I have come to realize that there is no way I can do this on my own and I need to put my full trust in our Lord Jesus Christ. Now that I can do that I have been able to focus on the more important things in life and worry less. While my faith has been strengthened and growing, there is still so much I have to learn. But now that I fully understand what being a Christ-follower means, I am ready to outwardly commit my life to him through the act of baptism.
