GRACE STUDENTS || This Week’s Theme: BACK TO NORMAL?

THIS WEEK’S THEME: Back to Normal?

As many of us have heard from friends, family, perhaps ourselves…we all just want things to go back to normal. But as Christians, what do we mean by normal? And who’s normal are we talking about? Is it the normal of the hustle and bustle? The normal of achievement and success? The normal of comfort and security? While things are turned upside down, this is a great opportunity to examine what we really mean by “normal” and where we get those ideas. Watch this devotional from Christen as she brings you along on her walk through the streets of DC and discusses this topic.

This Week’s Encouraging Message

IN HER MESSAGE, CHRISTEN REFERENCED A SERMON BY HER FAVORITE PROFESSOR, JERRY ROOT. WELL WORTH THE LISTEN:

THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY!!!

SIGN UP NOW! We will gather this Friday (April 24) from 7-10pm and Saturday from 10am-4pm, for our first ever (and hopefully last!) Grace Students Virtual Spring Retreat! We will send everyone who signs up a secret password to access the retreat schedule and links. It will consist of a combination of videos and Zoom (RingCentral) breakouts. Our original retreat speaker, Tyler Moffett, has graciously offered to still bring us his retreat messages and our worship team is already preparing the worship set-list! Our workshop leaders are preparing their content and our D-Team leaders are ready to lead “cabin time”! We cannot wait!

NEED COMMUNITY? JOIN A D-TEAM!

What’s a D-Team? A D-Team is a small group of students in your area. D-Teams meet via Zoom or a similar service on different days of the week. If you are NOT part of a D-Team and would really like to connect with other Christians your age, please know that we would LOVE to connect you! Click the link below to get signed up and someone will be in touch with you ASAP!

PASSWORD: grace

We will continue to gather every Wednesday at 3pm! We look forward to seeing every student there! This link will be available every Wednesday at 3–and the password is “grace” for the time being! (Subject to change)

NOTE: We have moved to RingCentral for our meeting hosting because Grace has an encrypted subscription! #safety

It may involve a quick download, but the user interface is identical to Zoom, so students won’t be able to tell a difference. It’s just much safer!

Here are three fun activities to keep things interesting! They’re not meant to be overly-spiritual, just fun ideas we came up with to focus some of that energy around the house!

  • MAKE A PLAYLIST of songs that help give you perspective in this time. Or borrow ours until you can get around to it. We made a playlist of thought-provoking and encouraging songs…different than our worship playlist. Check it out. [LINK
  • SIGN UP FOR SPRING RETREAT. We think that is an excellent “thing to do” to shake up the monotony! [LINK]
  • PHOTODOCUMENT YOUR QUARANTINE LIFE. Whether in pictures or video, use your lens to capture real life–the mundane, boring, interesting, seemingly random parts of your day. You’ll be surprised what you start to notice! NOTE: If you take pictures of your family, check with everyone to make sure they don’t mind. [LINK]

STUDY: FAMILY BIBLE STUDY

On a weekly basis, we provide a family Bible study for you to use in your home! We create these to coordinate with the Sunday message and passage! We hope this resource is a useful tool for you as you come together as a family of faith in your homes! For some real fun, go virtual and team up with another family.

APP: READ SCRIPTURE

REALLY cool app. This app allows you to follow along with Christ during Holy Week real time! So, today is Tuesday–that means you can see where Christ likely would have been at this very moment. Check it out today!
