Amanda Petersen is 19 years old and has been attending Grace with her family her entire life. Now a sophomore softball player at Messiah College, she reflects back on her life with Christ as she prepares to come to the water and get #dunked this weekend.
I grew up in a Christian household surrounded by two loving parents who served the Lord. There was never a time that Jesus wasn’t a part of my life. When I was in 4th grade, I remember the speaker at church talking about how much better life becomes when we decide to let Jesus come into our hearts. On that day, I decided to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
One of the best parts about entering a relationship with Christ is every day is an opportunity to learn new things about who He says He is in the Bible. Around this time, I started doing Grace Girls Adventures, where I started to learn and memorize scripture. Learning Scripture helped teach me about God.
As years went on I continued in middle school bible studies that allowed me to dive into the word with others as we shared our knowledge of God and the Bible. It wasn’t until the summer after my freshman year of high school at a camp that I truly understood the concept of grace that Jesus had been showing me my whole life. That week at camp I decided to rededicate my life to Christ.
Since then I have seen Christ working in all aspects of my life. He led me to Messiah College where I can use my God-given talents and play on a team that gives all the glory back to Christ. I have also had the unique experience to help lead team devotionals and help my teammates uncover truths of God in the Bible. I am so thankful for the hope I have in Jesus Christ because no matter how crazy life gets He will always be my rock.
Baptism at Grace
During all worship gatherings on Baptism Weekends, we celebrate the very reason we exist as a church: Christ’s mission to make disciples, baptizing and teaching in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28: 19-20). We share testimonies of how Jesus changes lives now and for eternity. And the best part… we baptize with a joy that’s out of this world!
