Your Grace Kids resources for the week of June 8

Continue to practice. Use this great illustrated Bible story and coloring page to review the Book of Psalms and Psalm 23!

Psalm 23 (Full)

LESSON 2: CREATED TO WORSHIP

Focus on reading the Bible passage and the “Study It” and “Discuss It” sections in the Lesson.

Watch this fun video to get an overview of all the judges.

Read Judges 2:8-19 and 3:7-11.

Talk about the Cycle of the Judges and it’s A-B-C-D-E pattern by reviewing the first judge, Othniel.  First, the people fell into Apostasy. They turned away from God and served other gods. (Judg. 3:7) Next, they experienced a period of Bondage. God was angry with the Israelites, and He gave them into the hand of the king of Aram. (v. 8) Third, the people Cried out to God. (v. 9) Then, God sent a Deliverer to save them. (vv. 9-10) Finally, they had Ease in the land. (v. 11) Then Othniel died.

Read Judges 3:11-31.

Talk about how the Cycle of Judges continues and how we are like the Israelites — choosing to go our own way so many times.  The Israelites needed someone better than a judge; they needed a king who would save them not only from the consequences of their sin, but the sin itself. And we do too!  That was all part of God’s plan. God sent a true Deliverer; His Son, Jesus, died for our sin and delivered us forever from the oppression of sin and death.

“In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes” (Judges 21:25 ESV)

LESSON 2: CREATED TO WORSHIP (continued)

Read 1 Samuel 17:1–57 again. Discuss how your family can “Experience It.” Have fun discovering the power and meaning that is in a name. Look up the meaning of each family member’s name.

Finish up with the “Map It” section.
