More than a shelter. A place where love overflows.

When the weather gets cold, our love overflows. Each year our wonderful army of volunteers share the love of Jesus with our local homeless community by preparing hot meals, a warm and safe place to sleep, clean laundry services, and nurturing fellowship.

Grace Community Church partners with Grassroots and the Howard County government to provide overflow shelter to homeless guests for one week during the winter. This year we will host the Cold Weather Shelter the week of February 24 – March 2, 2020.

There are several ways to serve this year; many opportunities are group-friendly so grab your family, community group, and friends.

Ways to Serve

Overnight Shift

Take turns sleeping in shifts to provide overnight supervision.

Volunteers are needed to drive our guests to and from Grace and the Columbia Mall. Morning and evening slots are available.

Evening & Weekend Shifts

Come join us to serve our guests during an evening or weekend shift. You will be responsible for escorting people to the showers, helping with guest care, and being a friend.

During the CWS our goal is to care for our guests and one easy way you can help is to do a few loads of their laundry. This year we will have two/three time slots to better accommodate our guests.

Help with the set up or tear down of the temporary shelter in Grace Place.

Meals & Related Provisions

There are many opportunities to provide hot meals, provisions for bagged lunches as well as non perishable items.
