One of my favorite books is called “Don’t Waste Your Life” by John Piper, which speaks of a Godward intentionality during the season of time you find yourself in. Parents, if your family is anything like mine, this virus has slowed down your family’s pace of life and has given you much more time together. My encouragement to you is to be intentional to disciple your children during this virus break…talk more together, pray more together, establish new routines, play games, do a puzzle, or a new house project.
Weeks or months from now, when this is all over, I don’t want to look back with regret thinking that I wasted the additional family time. To this end, the Grace Families team (Grace Kids and Grace Students) will be working hard to resource your family to make the most of your time together. Be on the lookout for emails from Grace Kids and Grace Students as they pass along ideas for you to consider. You have probably heard us state before, our mission as a Family Ministry is to partner with parents to make disciples of the next generation. That is what our team will help equip you to do during this virus break.
Finally, I encourage you with these words from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians: “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16). Parents, let’s lean in and make the best use of the time. Let’s not waste this virus break.
Praying for you during this time,
