PRAY & THANK GOD TOGETHER
Father God, Thank You for the Bible and your true story of David. Thank you for being with David and for helping Him with your strength protect His sheep. David was a good shepherd and loved his sheep and loved you, God!. Jesus, thank you that you are our Good Shepherd. You love us, are with us and protect us. Help us to use your strength and courage when we need it. In times of trouble, help us to remember that it is not our battle but yours. Amen
Color and make a Lion, Bear and Sheep Mask
“Gather the Sheep”:
Supplies: cotton balls, bowl(s), spoon(s), option: Lion, bear and sheep masks
What you do: Scatter the “sheep” (cotton balls) around the room and place the “sheep pen” (bowl) in a safe place. Explain that the sheep are in the green pasture but it is time for them to be gathered in a safe place for the night. Have your child be the “shepherd” with a “staff” (spoon). Have them “race” to herd as many sheep as they can into their “sheep pen.” (Families can race against each other by creating more than one sheep pen. Or, you can have them race against the clock. Option: Have someone be the Lion or Bear and try to keep the shepherd away from sheep).
Connect to the lesson: Remind your child(ren) what we learned today –David was a shepherd who loved and cared for his sheep, God was with and helped David, David fought in God’s strength. God gives us His courage and strength.
Jesus is our Good Shepherd. He watches over us wherever we go and is always with us.
