Growing up in the church I always knew Jesus, but I never had a personal intimate relationship with him. From going to church I thought that Jesus loved me out of obligation, instead of loving me for who I was.
During my middle and high school years I had a very surface level relationship with Christ, and I never implemented him into my daily life. During this time I looked for validation and self-worth in the ways of the world instead of in Christ.
It wasn’t until my freshman year of college where I decided to place God first in my life, and trust in him and his plan. I now look to God within me to understand who I am and meant to be.
“The LORD is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1).
Today and every day I place my trust in Christ as he continues to shape and transform me day by day as a daughter of the most high King, to spread his word and light by my actions and words. I am getting baptized as an outward proclamation of my faith and to take the initiative in the next step of my relationship with Christ, so that when I go out into the world and make disciples I can speak his truth and love.
